Senior Scientific Analyst/Developer

OptTek is seeking a senior scientific analyst/developer with great technical skills and strong experience in creating tools and performing analysis related to mathematical, statistical, AI/ML, simulation, and analytical applications. The position requires a highly motivated, detail-oriented professional capable of both independent and small team performance on a variety of algorithm, optimization, simulation, and software related tasks. The position will be mainly focused on supporting our Missile Defense Agency (MDA) customer with 3-4 days a week onsite at the customer facility in Colorado Springs, CO working in a team environment.

Qualifications:

• An M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or another technical or scientific field
• The ability to understand customer challenges and requirements, develop creative and efficient approaches to model and analyze problems, and design and implement algorithmic and software solutions to solve them
• Five or more years of professional experience developing algorithms and models in Java, Python, or a related object-oriented language
• The ability to design and validate robust algorithms and the flexibility to adapt to changing customer requirements and problem definitions
• Experience working in a collaborative environment and the ability to document and convey algorithm designs and optimization formulations to others
• Experience solving problems using metaheuristics, mathematical programming, and AI/ML including supervised, unsupervised, and/or reinforcement learning
• Experience with constructive modeling and simulation
• The ability to interact with customers, identify opportunities for new business, and seek strategic partnerships
