Lead System Architect
Company Description
At the Data Vault Project, we’re building a secure data vault and permissioned sharing layer designed to put individuals and organizations in control of their information. Through privacy-first architecture and flexible access controls, users choose what data is shared, with whom, and for how long — with the ability to revoke access at any time. Our goal is to create infrastructure that enables secure, transparent, and user-governed data exchange in an increasingly AI-driven world.
About the role
We're looking for a Tech Lead / System Architect to own the overall system design for a sensitive-data product. You'll define the blueprint, set technical standards, keep work aligned across components, and guide implementation through reviews.
What you'll do
- Own the end-to-end system design so components work together safely
- Define clear interfaces between components and keep them consistent over time
- Make key technical decisions and document tradeoffs, risks, and scope
- Guide engineering execution through design/PR reviews (part-time weekly review is OK)
Required (must-have)
- Led system design for a product handling sensitive data (health/finance/identity)
- Can define and maintain clear APIs/interfaces across components
- Can make decisions and document them clearly (what's in/out, risks, tradeoffs)
- Experience guiding other engineers through reviews and unblocking work
Nice-to-have
- Experience with audit logging or compliance-style record keeping
- Experience with permission-based sharing systems
Compensation
Commensurate with experience and scope of responsibility
