Senior Data Engineer

SonarMD is a healthcare startup using data to help people with chronic GI conditions maintain a better quality of life. We work directly with care teams to identify early signs of deterioration—so we can intervene before painful flare-ups or ER visits happen.

We’re hiring a senior data/backend engineer to help me (staff engineer) build our data platform from the ground up. You’ll be the first dedicated data engineer on a small, mission-driven team. There’s no legacy stack—you’ll help architect and implement the systems that turn messy healthcare data (claims, EHR, wearables, patient surveys) into something actionable. The work you do will drive everything from reporting to predictive insights, and shape the foundation for future AI/ML capabilities.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has built and owned production ingestion pipelines and backend systems
• Can design systems and write clean, reliable code in Node/Python
• Has experience with AWS (Glue, RDS, Lambda, Step Functions)
• Knows data modeling, SQL, and IaC (Ansible/Terraform/CDK)
• Likes to collaborate, solve real problems, and make smart tradeoffs in ambiguous situations
